Mirror Stream: Scanning the Modern Symbol of Kharkiv

Summary

  • The “Mirror Stream” Fountain is located in Sumskaya Street in Victory Park near the building of Kharkiv State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre. It was constructed in 1947 based on architect Korzh's design. The location itself holds a significant historical background. Originally, it housed a cemetery, followed by the construction of the Myronosytska Church in 1701. The church was demolished in 1930, and the Soviet authorities planned to build a multifunctional theater on the site. However, those plans were abandoned after the capital was moved to Kyiv. Eventually, a trolleybus park was established, and later transformed into Victory Park with a pool and the renowned "Mirror Stream" fountain, designed by architects Kasyanov, Korzh, and Mayak.
  • The objective of the project was to develop a detailed model for the reconstruction and restoration works of a landmark of Kharkiv.
